Artist Statement:

I am concerned with the essence of a subject that gives rise to meaning and an emotional response. My "Haiku" photography is influenced by minimalism, classic Chinese art and abstract expressionism.

Previous Art Shows:
The composite photo "Fish Dreaming of Distant Mountains," placed third in the Photography and New Media category of Arts 2013 at the Surrey Art Gallery. I showed a collection of botanical and minimalist photos at, "Art at Darts", June 18, Darts Hill Garden Park in South Surrey. Some of the photos featured in this collection of "Haiku Photography," are included in this portfolio.

Background:
After completing an MFA degree, I spent several years designing costumes and sets for local Vancouver theatres. From theatre, I moved into fashion and designed a swimwear line for three seasons. Upon returning full time to art, I chose to concentrate on photography and painting as these areas offered me more opportunity for creativity than applied design. I am an artist photographer with the ability to leverage my considerable applied design experience into strong, contemporary photographic concepts and art works.
